Hide and Seek

We grew up in a typical city neighborhood where houses were built close together. You couldn't reach out and touch the next house, but our cozy neighborhood offered some great hiding places anytime we'd play "Hide and Seek".

As one of us closed our eyes and slowly counted to ten, the rest took off for their favorite secret place. It was one of the many games we enjoyed together. Always great fun!

It was the hiding however, that made it a great game; finding those places where no one else would think to look. Sometimes you'd stay hidden until the rest started to call your name. Somehow you felt so safe in that secret place. You were worry-free, hiding there where you knew you couldn't be found.

Once when seeking a solitary place to prayer, Jesus' disciples came to him in the early hours of the morning saying, "Everyone is looking for You" (Mark 1:35-38). God has called all of us to just such a place. A special place were we meet with Him- a safe, hiding place as it were, where we are found in Him. The Psalmist wrote, "You are my hiding place..." (Psalm 32:7).

Do you have such a hiding place were only you and God can be found?
